Tinubu’s reforms charting path to restoration, says Funkekeme By Pius Mordi

Calls for steadfastness in rebuilding Nigeria

Nigerians have been urged to remain steadfast in ensuring that the country discards the policies and missteps of the past that plunged the country into near paralysis.

The path lies in having faith in the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which are already charting a new trajectory to sustainable growth for the country.

The Delta State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, gave the charge when he spoke at an empowerment programme by the Unique Ladies for Sheriff, a political support group for the reelection of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of Delta State.

Speaking on the theme “Benefits of Steadfastness”, Solomon who is also the Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, said steadfastness in life is imperative to success in personal life, business, governance and politics.

He recalled that the Political Conference convened by former President Goodluck Jonathan laid the template for Nigeria’s rebirth, noting that it took the bold decisions and steadfastness of President Tinubu to anchor on the recommendations of the conference to pull the country from the edge of precipice.

According to Solomon, the political confab sought to correct the debilitating hurdles inherent in the 1999 constitution that ushered the fourth republic. In addition, Tinubu undertook fundamental reforms that have brought the economy to an enduring path of growth.

“The most important of the economic reforms is the removal of fuel subsidy. This singular measure brought life back to the various tiers of government. States are now able to pay salaries and fulfil developmental obligations. Similarly, the granting of autonomy to local governments has given them the capacity to embark on the rehabilitation of schools and building of health centres.

These are some of the bold decisions borne out of steadfastness on the part of Tinubu that are redefining Nigeria,” Solomon stated.

“Another major defect in our federal structure which President Tinubu has corrected is the devolution of powers to states, granting of powers to states to create their own Police and the strengthening of the educational system.

The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has given students and parents the leeway to quality education without the pains of paying school fees. These positive changes are the product of steadfastness and commitment to nation building on the part of the President.

“Nigerians should connect and encourage this virtue of steadfastness and boldness by reelecting President Tinubu to a second term which will enable him to conclude his reform agenda,” Solomon said.

Empowerment tools and cash gifts were given to women drawn from the nine local government areas that make up Delta North Senatorial District.

The national coordinator of the Unique Ladies for Sheriff, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, urged the women to reach out to members of their families and constituencies on the need to return Tinubu for a second.

Among political leaders present at the event were Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu who was represented by Dr. Darlington Ijeh, Mrs. Kate Onianwa, one-time commissioner and Benedicta Osakuni, Esq, an executive assistant to the Governor
