Funkekeme charges Delta Christians, widows’ group on mobilisation for Tinubu, Sheriff

The Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has urged Christian leaders, the faithful and Widows Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the two leaders.

Solomon spoke at two separate occasions when he received the Widows Support Group and at a Mega Christian Political Prayer Rally organised by Team RM Patriots in conjunction with Faith-Based Organisations and Community-Based Religious Groups at the Cenotaph, Asaba.

He said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and its support groups had a responsibility to take the message of the administration’s policies and programmes to the grassroots, stressing that Nigerians needed to understand the reforms being undertaken by the Federal Government.

According to him, President Tinubu inherited a country facing several challenges and has embarked on reforms aimed at restructuring the economy and repositioning the country for sustainable development.

Solomon appealed to Nigerians to give the President time for the reforms to take effect, adding that some of the policies being implemented were designed to address longstanding structural challenges.

Solomon appealed to Christian leaders to support the continuation of the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations, saying the country needs leaders who, in his view, were committed to national development and could take difficult decisions in the interest of Nigerians.

According to him, “Nigeria needs strong and selfless people like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come on board. Nigerians will not regret giving Tinubu the opportunity to continue with the work of rebuilding the country.”

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors coordinator said the reforms of the Tinubu administration, particularly in the economy, security, military and electricity sectors, were designed to address longstanding structural challenges confronting the country.

He said the Federal Government had embarked on economic and power-sector reforms, while also strengthening security and investing in the modernisation of the armed forces. President Tinubu’s administration has similarly highlighted these areas as key parts of its reform programme.

Solomon urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the reforms, stressing that the full impact of some government policies and programmes would become more visible with time.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the Widows Support Group for Tinubu/Sheriff, Chief Isioma Okonta, briefed the leadership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors on the activities and strength of the group.

Okonta disclosed that the group currently has about 10,000 voters who, according to him, were beneficiaries of programmes and policies of the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He stated that the number of widows across Delta State was well over 60,000, describing the group as a significant grassroots constituency that could contribute to political mobilisation and awareness.

The coordinator requested Solomon to lead a sensitisation exercise for members of the group on Monday, September 28, 2026.

He said the group was already mobilising for the exercise, with an expected turnout of between 20,000 and 30,000 voters and members who would participate in the sensitisation programme.

Okonta said the proposed exercise would provide an opportunity for the widows and their supporters to receive first hand information on government policies, programmes and the activities of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
