Funkekeme urges Delta teachers to key into Oborevwori’s SERVICOM initiative

The Senior Policy Adviser to the governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has urged teachers to key into the governor’s SERVICOM initiative which aims to improve service delivery in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

In a goodwill message to teachers during the celebration to mark the 2025 World Teacher’s Day, Solomon said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has “wholeheartedly embraced improved service delivery across all the MDAs, local government areas and all structures of government in the State through the resuscitation of the SERVICOM initiative for improved service delivery.

He said the unique role of teachers as the vessel for educating and nurturing the future generation makes it imperative for teachers to imbibe the virtue of diligence in raising the nation’s younger generation.

“It is very pertinent to note that teachers offer a great and unique service to the society that they belong to, the impact of which resonates through time and eternity. Every one of us is the product of teachers. Our children are being taught today by teachers and as such greatly influencing and moulding the future of our country”, he said, assuring that Governor Oborevwori is committed to improving the welfare of teachers and enhancing the quality of the educational institutions.

“It is therefore very important for our Teachers to be encouraged and trained to make them more effective as teachers and those who impact knowledge and skill to the leaders of tomorrow”, adding the governor will always work towards improving the welfare of teachers and their working environment to improve service delivery.

“The teaching profession plays an integral role in the chain of service delivery In the state. Delta State Government is interested in improved service delivery amongst teachers and the teaching profession to ensure that the standard of education in our schools continue to be high and to as much as possible reduce or minimize service failures or things that can hinder effective service delivery in the teaching profession”, Solomon stated.

He was represented by Pius Mordi, a Special Assistant on Policy. This year’s celebration has the theme: Together for Teachers. Together for Tomorrow.
