Bible Texts: 3 John 1:2; 1 Corinthians 6: 19–20; Proverbs 4: 20–22 (NLT)

“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit” . (3 John 1:2)_

My dear brethren in Christ, Peace be with you. Today, through the voice of the Church, God reassures of his immense desire that in all things, we should as well enjoy stability of physical well-being. Health is one of the important gifts God has given us. Although money, education, and success are important, good health helps us carry out our daily responsibilities and serve God effectively.

In 3 John 1:2, God shows us that He cares about our well-being. He wants us to grow spiritually and also learn to care for our bodies. We should learn to manage stress, forgive others, pray, and maintain healthy relationships. God cares about our physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

If our body, according to 1 Corinthians 6:19, is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we should take care of it by eating well, drinking enough water, exercising, resting, and maintaining personal hygiene. We should not neglect our bodies while expecting them to remain strong. Caring for our health is part of being responsible stewards of what God has given us. The physical appearance should as much as possible, reflect the inside.

We should make wise decisions about our daily habits and avoid things that can harm our health. We should also seek medical attention when we are sick. Prayer is important, but seeking medical care does not mean we lack faith in God.

Good Health Helps Us Serve God and Others. Our strength, abilities, and time should be used to glorify Him and help others. However, being sick does not mean someone cannot fulfil God’s purpose. Even in weakness, we can trust God and serve Him according to our abilities.

God Cares About Our Whole Being (Physically and psychologically and spiritually). Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” We should learn to manage stress, forgive others, pray, and maintain healthy relationships. God cares about our physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Remember, illness does not always result from a lack of faith. When we face health challenges, we should trust God, support one another, and seek appropriate care.

My dear brethren in Christ. God’s purpose for our health is for us to value life, care for our bodies, grow spiritually, and use our abilities to serve Him and others. Let us eat wisely, rest adequately, exercise, pray, and seek medical help when necessary.

Our health is valuable, our bodies deserve care, and our lives should be used to glorify God.
